Announcing the Sale of Eighth Street Property to Snyder County Coalition for Kids

CUMC ANNOUNCES APPROVAL OF SALE TO SNYDER COUNTY COALITION FOR KIDS: Greetings in the name of the Prince of Peace who was born a Savior: Yesterday, Christ United Methodist Church, Selinsgrove, PA, Inc. voted 75-0 to sell the 429 North 8th Street Property to Snyder County Coalition for Kids. Immediately after Christmas and New Year’s, we will begin the process of preparing for the sale (paperwork which has already started & final cleanout) and I will be in contact with Snyder County Coalition for kids today to begin work with them. Thank-you to everyone who has held this process up in prayer and who came to this very important vote. It is both a joyous and sad time. Joyous in that we are one step closer to fulfilling God’s vision for us of a new facility along Route 522. Joyous that we will be selling the 8th Street Property to a group who will provide valuable resources to our community through a “Regional Engagement Center” (REC) that “will provide intergenerational opportunities for volunteering, health and wellness classes, and economic experience.” We are also sad because a chapter in the history of Christ UMC is coming to an end. Many lives we changed at that property through worship, Sunday School, Bible Studies, missions, small groups, youth events, baptisms, confirmations, weddings, funerals, evangelistic outreaches, meals, preschool classes, seminars, toy sales, and much more. In January, we will announce a time when we will decommission the 8th Street property and share memories of how the Holy Spirit changed lives through the ministry that occurred there. Thanks be to God for all of you! You are an amazing church that continually thinks not of yourselves but of the community and of how lives can be impacted and changed by the grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Thank-you for the love which you share and the Gospel message which you bring to others. I am excited for our future that we are working on at 522 and our future in being part of a wonderful new ministry at 8th Street. You are a church with a long legacy and your prayers, work, and vote continue that legacy for Christ. As the Apostle Paul stated in his letter to the church in Corinth, “I always thank my God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus. For in him you have been enriched in every way—with all kinds of speech and with all knowledge— God thus confirming our testimony about Christ among you.” (1st Corinthians 1:4-6) Christ is definitely at work among you all – you are a blessing and it is an honor to serve you. May the peace of Christ and the Love of God be with you all this Christmas and may the Holy Spirit continue to guide CUMC in this process of building for a mission function and making disciples of Christ for the transformation of the world! In His Love Pastor Ryan
